Michael Malone grew up in a Navy family, spending most of his formative years in San Diego and the Bay Area. Michael was ordained in the Christian Church (DOC) in 1996 by both the Indiana and Illinois/Wisconsin Regions. He has served churches in western NY, California, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. Michael and Laurie married 25 years ago while Michael was in seminary. A former Marriage and Family therapist, Social Worker, and Addictions counselor, Michael is passionate about preaching, teaching, and social justice issues. He and his wife, Laurie, love watching movies and are on the film selection committee for the Borrego Springs Film Festival. Most nights they can be found snuggling on the couch watching their beloved San Diego Padres with their dog, Ozzie (named after Ozzie Smith). They have two adult children; daughter Carly who lives in Connecticut with her husband and son, and Kellen, who lives in Austin, TX with his girlfriend.
Linda Thompson joined FCC staff in July, 2004 after a two-year rest following retirement from other employment. Linda’s interests and skills are organizational and creative. She shares her home with one kitty who adopted her several years ago. She enjoys interacting with people and finds working in a church office both rewarding and challenging. Linda says serving the church and its members has never felt like work, and she enjoys coming to work each day.
Dr. John and his son Johnny McMullan have shared their musical gifts for many years playing the organ. From classical to contemporary music, they inspire listeners with a variety of music.
Arda McMullan shares her love for music by directing the chancel choir, which includes youth and adults who provide musical expressions during worship each week.
Rena Ingram and Carol Carnell serve as our nursery caregivers for Sunday school, worship, and other church functions. Their loving presence provides a safe place for children, for we value the presence of the youngest participants in our church! Although all ages of children are welcome in worship, some families appreciate the safe and loving care in the nursery.
Otis Wake Custodial Services provides a great deal of support for our many activities. Otis sets up Mayes Fellowship Hall when it is used for church and community functions. He also cleans the entire building, including classrooms, offices, and the Sanctuary. We are very much indebted to "Odie" for the work he does for us.
